ABS
Ideal for functional prototypes stronger than PLA, and that are not too large.
Commonly used for making more durable and stronger parts than with PLA, as it can stand higher temperatures, it is slightly more flexible and can be easily painted. It can be treated with acetone or acetone vapor to give it a glossy finish (be careful!) and to make the object stronger or to solidly glue parts together.
ABS responds well to traditional support settings and can be used with HIPS as support under certain circumstances as HIPS can dissolve in limonene.
ABS shrinks when it cools so you should use an enclosed printer with warm and steady air temperature in order to prevent delamination or warping.
FLEX 98
Ideal for grips, toys, non-scratching and cushioned supports, very strong objects, novelty objects.
This filament opens up a great deal of interesting shatter-resistant objects. You can make living hinges with it, and combine it with rigid plastics. Supports have to be clipped away with a knife. Its high interlayer adhesion prevents objects from easily breaking along the Z axis. It also resists heat better than PLA. KODAK Flex 98 offers high performance and excellent printing processability.
HIPS
Presents similar strength and stiffness as ABS with a little more flexibility, ideal for funcional prototypes where ABS is not suitable or other chemical properties are necessary.
HIPS is almost as easy to print as ABS, its slightly more prone to warping and delamination, requires an enclosed chamber to be printed.
It makes it another great alternative to classic PLA for models requiring higher impact resistance. The material is a good electrical insulator and can be sanded and painted with acrylic paints. It can also be used as a dissolvable support material for ABS (soluble with limonene, citric acid).
NYLON 6
Ideal for tough objects with living hinges (one or two layer walls are flexible), resistant to chemicals and practically unbreakable.
Toughest among all engineering plastics. Build fixtures, guides, jigs, guards the other manufacturing aids that require good mechanical and tensile strength. Excellent resistance to heat, oils, solvents, and chemicals. Our Neon variety transmits ultraviolet/black light, so you can make objects that seem to glow in the dark. Do not use in direct contact with food. Do not leave exposed to air, since it readily absorbs humidity, which can greatly affect your print. Drying this hygroscopic material before printing is highly recommended. Keep it in a KODAK filament case with a silica gel packet for best performance.
NYLON 12
Ideal for tough objects with living hinges (one or two layer walls are flexible), resistant to chemicals and practically unbreakable.
Ideal material for durable parts, Nylon 12 is the best choice for printing high-stress working mechanisms. Is extremely tough with superior tensile strength, elongation at break and impact strength, high fatigue endurance and low friction coefficient.
It is much less hygroscopic than Nylon 6 and extremely stable both thermally and chemically. It shows excellent physical properties, such as flexibility in thin walls and superior mechanical resistance.
Kodak Nylon12 is an FDA approved material.
PLA TOUGH
Ideal for industrial application and models, many functional parts, jigs, etc
This filament is as easy to print as regular PLA with 9 times higher impact resistance. It has been manufactured with the highest grade of Ingeo™ certified resins. It provides excellent 3D printing characteristics, such as precise detail, good adhesion to build plates and low warping, curling, and odor. NatureWorks Ingeo filament has passed a defined set of tests to assure the highest quality and thus reliable and repeatable printing performance. Furthermore, this polymer is formulated to crystallize when annealed post-printing to improve its thermal performance and further enhance its impact properties. The best general use printing filament!
PLA+
Ideal for architecture and concept modeling.
Is an improved version of PLA, suitable for replacing ABS in many aspects. It provides great visual quality and has very low shrinkage and warp. Its high impact resistance is similar to that of ABS. It has fast crystallization, which enables printing without the support and with very fine detail. We use pure grade Ingeo™ certified resins to ensure the best printing results. Our filament has passed a defined set of tests performed by NatureWorks to ensure product quality. Post-annealing in the range of 80-130°C can be used to promote crystallization (gaining strength) and to improve the heat deflection temperature of the 3D printed part.
