- Go to calibration screens and write down the values for the Z offset and XY offset.
- Turn the printer upside down and remove the bottom cover of the printer to expose the Faraday cage.
- Remove the Faraday cage lid covering the Smoothieboard (the smaller one highlighted in yellow).
- Locate the Smoothieboard.
- Take out the micro SD card from the Smoothieboard by pushing the card in to eject it.
- Plug the micro SD or use an SD adapter to plug the card into a computer.
- Clean and format the SD card using the Windows disk partition tool:
- Press WIN + R to open the run command popup.
- Enter diskpart in the entry field and press ENTER.
- Click YES if you are asked to allow the app to make changes to the device.
- At the DISKPART prompt, enter list disk to get a list of all connected drives.
- Enter select disk # (change # to the corresponding disk number).
- Enter clean to clean the disk, removing any partition on the SD card.
- Enter create partition primary to create a primary partition on the SD card.
- Enter exit to close the disk partition tool.
- Right-click on mounted SD card and select Format....
- Now the SD card should be ready for writing the image file onto it.
- Download the firmware:

For HV1 machinesVersion 2.1.2
For HV2 machines - Extract all files from the zip file onto the root of the SD card.
- The files on the SD card should appear like this:
- Put the SD card back into the Smoothieboard.
- If the Raspberry is being reflashed as well you can access this link and follow the instructions from there.
OPTIONAL (if the Raspberry is not being reflashed)
- Turn the printer back on and check that you have good temperature readings. Continue to the next step if values are back to normal.
- Reset the UUID in order for both boards of the machine to reconnect and tether properly, to do this ensure there is nothing connected to the front USB and go into Setup – Manual controls – Dev tools and select reset board UUID, then press OK as soon as the sign pops (no need to wait).
- The reflashing of the SD-card will reset all calibration values. You can recalibrate the printer or input the values stored at the beginning of the process.
- Reboot the printer again.
- Now the printer should be ready!
