Main menu
- Print - To access printing options - USB - CLOUD - LOCAL FILES
- Setup - To go to settings
- Print Queue - To print gcodes that have been queued from the Cloud
- USB flash drive - To print gcodes stored on the connected USB flash drive
- Print from a local file - To print sample or calibration gcodes stored in the printer
Print Queue
The Cloud queue screen. Queued files to print from the Cloud will be listed here.
Selecting the file will start the download from the cloud, after the download is completed a screen will show allowing to send the print. Pressing "Print" will start the process
USB flash drive
Lists all printable gcodes found in the connected USB drive - The message “No files found” will be displayed if the connected USB flash drive contains no gcodes. Await at least 3 seconds before accessing the screen after connecting the USB in order for the printer to load the files and display them.
Print from local file
Print local files selection screen:
- Sample files - To print printing samples contained in the Portrait. Files are labeled by material and extruder.
- Calibration files - To print calibration gcodes to check the calibration of the printer.
For more information on calibration and testing refer to :
Sample files
The gcode file names indicate which extruders and material will be used:
Ext1 for extruder 1 and Ext2 for extruder 2.
Calibration files
Calibration tests are meant to print using PLA Tough on extruder 1 and PLA on extruder 2.
- Z Offset T0 prints a small circle in the middle of the bed using Extruder 1 (right) to measure the Z offset calibration for extruder 1.
- Z Offset T1 prints a small circle in the middle of the bed using Extruder 2 (left) to measure the Z offset calibration for extruder 2.
- 5 points prints 5 small circles on different positions of the bed to measure the bed leveling
- XY Offset Calibration prints a dual material test showing in order to check the alignment between the 2 extruders.
For more information on calibration and testing refer to :

Filaments
The filament loading/unloading menu:
- Loading filament - To load filament
- Unload filament - To unload filament
Loading/Unloading filament - Select Extruder
Screen to select which nozzle to heat up in order to perform the loading/unloading.
Loading/Unloading filament - Select filament
Filament selection screen. Filament materials that are not compatible with the selected extruder will be greyed out.
The loading filament instruction popup. The tip of the filament must be inserted into the extruder.
Loading Material
The filament loading screen. As the progress bar advances the printer will first heat up the nozzle and then proceed to do the necessary movements in order to load the material, after completing this process the “Extrude More” button will be enabled allowing to perform additional filament loading.
Unloading Material
The unloading filament screen. As the progress bar advances the printer will first heat up the nozzle and then proceed to do the necessary movements in order to unload the material, after completing this process the “Retract More” button will be enabled allowing further retract the filament if necessary.
Calibration
- Z Offset calibration - Calibrates the distance between each nozzle and the build plate
- Build plate calibration - Calibrates the automatic bed leveling by probing 25 points over the print surface and storing height values. The probing values are stored and automatically applied before the beginning of each print.
- XY Offset - Calibrates the alignment between both nozzles (only relevant for dual extrusion)
Z Offset calibration
Loading screen when the printer is switching between the two hotends.
The printer will inform when finished and will ask the user to reboot the printer.
Build plate calibration
- Calibrate - To start the automatic bed calibration. The printer will probe 25 different points on the printing surface starting at the front.
Instruction screen what to do before calibrating. Ensure there are no rests of plastic on the nozzle before starting the calibration.
XY Offset calibration
After you have printed the XY calibration gcode, measure the alignment of the two parts of the printed piece using a caliper. Raise/lower the values of both X and Y depending on your results using the indicators on the printed piece (X+, X-, Y+, and Y-).
The printer will inform when finished and will ask the user to reboot the printer.
Connectivity
- Wifi - To see and connect to available WiFi connections
- Network - To see available network information
- Cloud - To get Cloud token code, connect/disconnect, and register/deregister the printer
Wifi
Wifi connection screen displaying all available networks. Currently, the connected network will show a green tick.
After you have selected your secure WiFi connection (SSID) from the list you will be asked to enter the WiFi password.
Info
Information screen for network connections. Established connections will display an internal IP-address meaning the printer has access to the internet.
Cloud
The Cloud status screen. In this case, the printer is registered to a Cloud account and available for remote printing or queueing.
The Cloud status screen. The printer, in this case, is registered to a Cloud account but has been disconnected so remote users cannot print or queue prints.
The Cloud status screen when the printer is not yet registered. A token is shown on screen, this token can be used at our printing cloud (cloud.smart3d.tech) to register and activate the printer.
The printer can be registered and unregistered at any time, unlimited times, using any account.
Language
Language selection screen.
Sounds
Volume control screen.
