IMPORTANT: Always verified the nozzle is clean before start a new printing, do not forget to remove all the remains for a correct calibration. Always use the provided safety gloves when removing a print job. |
Site Preparation
The Macro PU 3D Printer is for indoor use only. Take into account the following environmental conditions:
- Air quality conditions with excessive solid particulates (conductive or non-conductive) may result in system damage
- Air quality conditions in which airborne oils are allowed to accumulate on or within the printer
- can damage the plastic components.
- Do not install the printer where flammable gas or corrosive gas is generated
- Do not install the printer where ambient temperature exceeds 30 °C (86 °F)
- Do not install the printer where the ambient temperature fluctuates violently.
- It’s recommended to use the printer above 21ºC (70 °F). Otherwise, the chamber heating process may be delayed.
The dimensions shown in the figure are the minimum clearance requirements.

Handling of the power cord
|
Door and top door
For safety reasons, the printer door and top door must be kept closed when operating the printer.
IMPORTANT! The door and the top door cannot be opened during the printing process. Always use the provided safety gloves when removing a print job. |
Always ground the unit
Connect the Macro PU's power plug to a receptacle with grounding connectors. Do not forget to ground the Macro PU to protect you and the unit from electrical shock in case of a power surge. Choose a receptacle with grounding connectors as often as possible.
Do not connect the grounding wire to a gas pipe, or use a lightning rod or telephone line. |
PEI Print Bed
After every print, you must clean the print bed properly. It is important to keep the bed clean and without any irregularities to prevent issues with the next print, make sure it is aligned relative to the platform.
Linear guides and leadscrew
Both linear guides and leadscrew need maintenance every three months.
You will need grease to lubricate the items.
Coolant liquid level
The reservoir level must be checked periodically and refilled if necessary.

Fill the cooling reservoir only using Smart3D-approved coolants. Liquid coolant from Smart3D contains chemicals that inhibit microbiological growth (and subsequently corrosion). Tap/Bottled/Purified water is an ideal environment for microorganisms to grow which will reduce cooling, be difficult to clean up, and could lead to hardware damage. |
Extruders
Both extruders need to be checked periodically as filament debris can accumulate around it.
